Curriculum overhaul at the National Fire Academy

Following a thorough review of its Management Science curriculum, the United Stated Fire Administration’s (USFA) National Fire Academy (NFA) has decided to include new course content that addresses the issues currently faced by the nation’s fire and emergency medical services.
“Emergency services management skills have changed over the last few years, and the USFA’s NFA is modernizing several of its more popular courses to stay on top of this trend,” said NFA Superintendent Dr. Denis Onieal. “The Management Science curriculum now offers some of the leading courses that prepare today’s fire service leaders to better handle the challenges of managing organizations in today’s rapidly changing economic, political, regulatory and social climates.”
The NFA, which is based in Emmitsburg, Maryland and trained more than 120,000 students last year, hopes that the curriculum revisions will help to promote the importance of emergency medical services in fire service delivery.
