Thomas J. Martin Ph.D: Chemguard’s ECOGUARD Fluorine-Free Fire Fighting Foam

With heightened regulatory scrutiny and increasing customer demand for ecologically friendly foam alternatives, several fire-fighting foam manufacturers have developed fluorinefree foams to complement their existing AFFF and AR-AFFF product line. A comparison is made of the performance of Chemguard’s ECOGUARD Fluorine-Free Fire Fighting Foam to similarly used fluorine-containing foams based on physical properties and UL 162 standard testing.
About the speaker
Dr. Thomas Martin, a research chemist by training, received his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in the area of polymer surfactants. He worked in various research positions for the surfactant and intermediates company Sasol North America (formerly Condea Vista Chemical) for a number of years at its R&D campus, and also at Baker Petrolite in the oil field chemicals business. He joined Chemguard in 2006 where he is currently Director of Chemical Technology supporting both the Fire Suppression Foams and Specialty Chemicals businesses. He and his wife and 3 children live in the DFW suburb of Mansfield, TX.
