FIVE, October 5-6, Baltimore, USA

Published:  07 September, 2016

Fire safety in vehicles is an international problem and at FIVE (Fires in Vehicles) delegates can meet the experts.

The rapid transition into alternative fuels, denser and larger cities, more underground constructions, self-driving vehicles, antagonistic threats etc. all contribute to a rapidly changing environment and new challenges.

Mike Weston, keynote speaker from Transport of London, will showcase a paper titled, Fire safety management in a large transit authority. Other speakers will present statistics on fires, evacuation possibilities and the specific risks from certain parts of a vehicle.

Thomas Littleton of Transit Safety and Oversight in USA is presenting Changes in the safety environment in the US related to MAP-21. This will be followed by a keynote presentation by Jonas Brandt from SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden: New fire safety standards for buses and coaches.

Casey Grant from the research foundation of NFPA will highlight the risks posed by electric vehicles, as well as the results of full-scale tests of electric vehicles conducted in Canada.

Delegates can also find out more about environmental effects from vehicle fires, the art of fire investigation and risk mitigation by using extinguishing and detections systems.
