Multi-functional fans

Published:  01 April, 2016

The Fanergy fans from Rosenbauer can be used to produce water mist and high-expansion foam.

The new fan is suitable for different types of tactical ventilation as well as to fight fires in confined spaces.

The fan comprises a patented fan-control unit, fan impeller and aerodynamically shaped grille that has been developed with the use of computational fluid dynamics. According to Rosenbauer, the special grille provides a uniform and powerful flow with an optimised pattern. ‘Even the suction performance and the resulting air supply of the fan unit were improved in the new design,’ commented Rosenbauer’s Gerda Konigstorfer.

To use the fan as an expansion foam generator an operator can simply pull a foam net from its specific storage compartment over the fan unit and connect it to the hose.

The new unit comes with an optional LED light unit that illuminates in the direction of the intake opening. This is designed to help orientate crews as well as to illuminate the controls.

Also optional is a centrally integrated water spray unit. Water is supplied via a standard C-hose, which is directly coupled to the fan. The maximum output is approximately 200 l/min for a throw range of up to 20m.

Five models are available ranging in size and power intake. The combustion engine version has a slightly higher output than the electric motor version but the latter is quieter and emissions-free.
