Sprinkler Save and Fire Map

Published:  11 March, 2016

An online interactive map that shows UK premises that have been saved from fires by sprinklers has been launched by the Business Sprinkler Alliance.

The first of its kind in the country, the map enables users to search for selected sprinkler saves and significant fires dating back to 2012.

With the map’s three main filter options users can search for sprinkler saves and fires according to county, year and building use. However, the map is not a comprehensive review of all fires and saves, rather providing a representative snapshot based on available data.

The Sprinkler Saves and Fires Map has been launched by the BSA, a not-for-profit organisation that advocates the increased acceptance and use of fire sprinklers in commercial and industrial premises. The BSA hopes the fire sector will help further populate the new platform with information, thereby highlighting the benefits of sprinklers and the damaging impact of fires on the business community.

Iain Cox, BSA Chairman, said: ‘We are delighted to finally launch our Sprinkler Save and Fire Map. We believe that the map represents a fantastic opportunity for us to work with our colleagues in the Fire and Rescue Service and key media to build a compendium of information that will serve the entire industry.

‘We are urging all those who use the map to get in touch with any additional data they might have that will strengthen this tool. Ultimately, as an organisation, we have always sought to deliver robust information and insight into the benefits of fire sprinklers; the interactive map will only further heighten this.’

As well as the interactive map, the website provides free-to-download reports of the latest data related to automatic sprinkler systems.

The map can be accessed at www.sprinklersaves.uk and on the BSA homepage www.business-sprinkler-alliance.org.
