Essex Fire & Rescue Service orders 80 thermal imaging cameras from Scott Safety.

Scott Safety’s X380 thermal imaging cameras will help Essex firefighters have better situational awareness when entering the scene of a fire.

A useful feature of the new TICS is the hot-spot tracker, which allows firefighters to identify the hottest point of a fire and to ascertain any changes in fire behaviour. ‘The simplicity, robustness and image quality were all contributing factors to the selection of Scott Safety as a thermal imaging partner by Essex FRS. Our eyes are literally opened by using thermal imaging camera, and the X380 is just so clear and easy to use that it saves us valuable time when at a scene, said Steve Foster, Technical Services and R&D Officer, Essex FRS.

Commenting on the purchase, Acting Chief Fire Officer Adam Eckley said: 'They are just the latest investment we have made in our frontline crews’ safety and ensuring that we provide a robust response to all emergency incidents. This is part of the on-going work we are doing in improving our operational capacity, investing in the safety of our crews and ensuring they have the best equipment available.’
