US$7 million project to co-locate emergency services

Published:  10 September, 2015

Cumbria County Council is leading a project to construct a co-located emergency response centre in Ulverston, north-west England.

US$7 million has been secured from the Department for Communities and Local Government to deliver the new centre which will be constructed on land adjacent to the A590 opposite the junction with Daltongate.

The new centre will provide:

  • A new base for the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service to replace the current facility on The Ellers.
  • A new base for the North West Ambulance Service, also replacing the current facilities on Victoria Road.
  • Facilities for Cumbria Police.
  • Meeting rooms of varying sizes for use by the local community.

Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are working in partnership with the North West Ambulance Service and Cumbria Police to deliver the project.

Plans will be available shortly on the council’s website at

  • Operation Florian
