A voyage of driver training discovery around the world

Published:  04 June, 2015

The last year has seen UK-based Emergency Response Driver Training Limited (ERDT) undertaking a mammoth voyage around the globe to provide driver and instructor training accredited by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RosPA).

The journey started last summer at Manchester Airport FRS (UK) where ERDT delivered driver-familiarisation training for the new Oshkosh 6x6 Global Striker fleet acquired by the Airport Fire Service. This was followed by a trip to Kuala Lumpur where candidates from the Malaysian FRS received emergency response driving instructor courses, which included training on fire appliances and ambulances.

In Dubai (United Arab Emirates) ERDT provided the ARFF emergency response driving instructor training to trainers from Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central at Al Maktoum International Airport.

At the other end of the climate scale, the instructors went to Stornoway in the north of Scotland (UK) to deliver another airport fire service instructors course. For Dorset FRS (UK) a support and resilience services was provided in the shape of a fire appliance emergency response driving course.

ERDT travelled to the East Coast of Malaysia to CEFS Response Petronas Malaysia where it delivered industrial fire and rescue as well as ambulance emergency response driver training.

In February 2015, ERDT commenced a three-year contract delivering industrial fire and rescue as well as ambulance emergency response driver training to Qatar Petroleum FRS and ambulance service. The training was conducted in the capital Doha as well as locations across Qatar.

In March 2015 ERDT delivered emergency response driving instructor training to Shropshire FRS (UK) and in April where it was engaged by Derbyshire FRS (UK) to deliver driving instructor re-assessments and car emergency first responder emergency response driver training courses.
