Keeping a 'SharpEye' on the Kashagan Field

Published:  27 November, 2014

INSTALLATION NEWS: The Kashagan Field, in the Kasakhstan's zone of the Caspian Sea, has invested in over 2,000 SharpEye Triple IR Flame Detectors.

The AGIP Kashagan FIeld provides an extremely harsh environment for the detectors to work in. ‘Despite this, the SharpEye Triple IR detectors continue to provide top detection with the highest accuracy, reliability and the highest immunity to false alarm,’ said Spectrex’s Sybil Bates.

The 40/40I Triple IR (IR3) Flame Detector detects fuel and gas fires at long distances with the highest immunity to false alarms. It is the most durable and weather resistant flame detector currently on the market and includes new features such as a heated window to eliminate condensation and icing, HART capabilities for digital communications, lower power requirement and a compact, lighter design.

‘Spectrex is a leader in the flame and open path gas detectors field and is fully committed to enhance the safety of employees, capital investments and the environment. Being the first to launch major innovations that have become trade standards such as the first UV/IR and IR3 Flame Detector designs, Spectrex continues to offer over 40 different flame detector designs to meet application challenges from Offshore to Mall Floors, from Alaska to Malaysia. Spectrex was first to incorporate the Xenon Flash in OPGD detectors to solve false alarm issues common in the industry. Today, over 28 major OPGD designs are offered by Spectrex for continuous hydrocarbon and toxic gas monitoring,’ Sybil concluded.
