R3 Safety and Rescue agrees sponsorship deal with EP Barrus for outboard engines

Published:  14 October, 2014

R3 Safety and Rescue has announced EP Barrus Ltd as its outboard engine sponsor, for its fleet of swiftwater and flood rescue training boats all running Mariner outboards.

This is a significant development for R3 Safety and Rescue, one of the leading providers of specialist swiftwater and flood rescue boat training in the UK. ‘The outboard requirements for swiftwater and flood rescue boats are very specific,’ said Paul O’Sullivan, Managing Director of R3 Safety and Rescue Ltd. ‘The Mariner outboards provide a great combination of performance and reliability.’

The Mariner outboards are supplied through the EP Barrus’ Special Products Division and are specially set up with Post Immersion Re-Start (PIRS – an engine that can be rapidly started after being submerged), stainless steel prop guards and carry handles. This means they can be quickly and easily deployed, and are ideally suited for the demands of swiftwater and flood rescue operations.

Mark Coleman, General Manager, Special Products and R&D Divisions, EP Barrus Ltd, said: ‘We are pleased to be working in partnership with R3 Safety and Rescue. They are respected water and technical rescue training providers and a great ambassador for our Mariner outboards.’
