Course on visual alarm devices introduced by Hochiki Europe

Published:  13 October, 2014

Aimed at mechanical and electrical professionals, end users and architects, the free CPD course has been designed to provide essential information on EN54-23, the European standard that became mandatory at the beginning of the year.

The regulations aim to help the one in seven people in the UK who are deaf or hard of hearing and may require both visual and audio warning in the event of a fire. While VADs have been a legal requirement in public buildings since the Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 1995, it is only more recently that stricter guidelines have been set out for their installation and performance.

The course is the latest in a series of training seminars currently offered by Hochiki Europe, and has been professionally certified by The CPD Certification Service.

“EN 54-23 marks a significant shift in the way VAD systems are designed and manufactured, and it’s important to get up to speed with the changes,” commented Paul Adams, Deputy Marketing Manager at Hochiki Europe. “We’re committed to sharing our world class expertise in fire detection systems, and educating industry professionals on the latest legislative developments that affect them in their roles.

“We look forward to running our latest course on VADs, continuing our work towards improving industry safety standards.”
