Scott Safety introduces SCBA for firefighters and industrial responders

Published:  20 June, 2014

Scott Safety has now announced the launch of a new range of breathing apparatus. The new range aims to provide ultimate comfort, reliability and performance for professional fire services and complete protection for firefighters and others needing IDLH protection working in the oil and gas markets around the world.

Part of the new ProPak SCBA range the ProPak-f and ProPak-fx incorporate the technology found in Scott Safety’s SCBA products and are designed to meet the specific demands of the professional firefighter and users requiring a high specification BA set.

‘Both products offer an unequalled level of performance and user comfort with the ProPak-fx featuring an adjustable backplate on a rigid backframe construction for durability and performance.  The unique backplate design plays a crucial role in reducing user burden as it is both durable and lightweight.  Integral grab handles make it easy to carry when not in use and for when emergency rescue is required.  The Scott Safety ProPak-f/ProPak-fx can be specified in a number of configurations including Split Demand Valve Coupling (SDC), Y-Piece (Y2C) and attachments for airline, which can also be used for Rescue Second Man and decontamination purposes,’ said Tony Pickett Scott Safety’s Global Product Manager – Air Supplied.

The new ProPak-f/ProPak-fx comes with a choice of 200 -300bar cylinders as well as the new high-pressure 379 bar cylinder technology.  At 25% higher pressures than the standard 300 bar SCBA, these new cylinders offer increased duration with minimal increases in size and weight providing firefighters with a duration of up to 75 minutes and a convenient method of utilising an extended duration breathing apparatus without increasing user burden.

The entire ProPak range has been approved to EN137:2006 Type2, incorporating the stringent Full Flame Engulfment Test, and have MED approval, meaning that it has the latest approval for the Marine industry.

Tony Pickett, said: ‘With over a million firefighters worldwide trusting Scott Safety’s equipment, our SCBA range is the preferred choice.  Our latest innovation is customer-led, by listening to what firefighters need we have completely re-designed our SCBA offering to provide a choice of equipment to suit the demands of today’s firefighter which incorporates our proven technology.  Although this new range features all the latest technology, it has been future proofed to incorporate developments in electronic and telemetry applications.’
