Emergency Services Show 2014 introduces UK SAR Zone

Published:  27 May, 2014

Taking place at the NEC (Birmingham, UK) this September, the free-to-attend Emergency Services Show is open to all ranks throughout the fire and rescue service and industrial brigades, including overseas visitors. The two-day event (24 and 25 September) offers live demonstrations, free seminars, workshops and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge equipment, vehicles and technology.

The latest search and rescue techniques will be showcased in the UK SAR Zone. New for 2014, this feature brings together The RNLI, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RAF Search & Rescue, British Cave Rescue Council, Mountain Rescue England & Wales and the Association of Lowland Search & Rescue.

Visitors attending the Emergency Services Show can share best practice with their colleagues in other fire and rescue services as well as network with other bluelight services and agencies to improve communications and co-working. The Emergency Response Zone for example will feature over 80 secondary responders, voluntary sector partners and NGOs including the British Red Cross, CFOA National Resilience, The Environment Agency, AA Special Operations and the Flood Forecasting Centre.

The expanding exhibition has attracted many new names this year including Bay Search and Rescue, which will be showing its unique Hagglunds BV206 all-terrain rescue vehicles and its recently-acquired airboat which can be used in shallow water and even run over snow and ice. Other new names include Bluelamp Afloat (powerboat training courses), Gamber-Johnson (vehicle computer mounting systems), HBC Radiomatic (radio systems for the wireless control of cranes and machinery), Helyx Sis (geographic information systems), Moldex – Europe (respiratory and hearing protection), Rossetts Mercedes-Benz and Total Mast Solutions.

Running alongside The Emergency Services Show in private rooms located in the atrium outside Halls 17 and 18, will be a number of meetings and seminars, hosted by industry bodies such as CFOA National Resilience, The Emergency Planning Society, Airport Fire Officers Association, Fire Procurement Network and Emergency Services Mobile Communications Project

The NEC is physically linked to Birmingham International Station and Birmingham Airport and is directly accessible from the UK motorway network. Parking for visitors and exhibitors will remain free of charge.
