Dräger helmet wins design award

Published:  03 April, 2014

The Dräger HPS 7000 helmet wins prestigious iF Product Design Award 2014.

The HPS 7000 that was launched last year will now carry the renowned iF label – a label that signals outstanding products.

The iF Product Design Award is annually conferred by the iF International Forum Design. Every year the iF attracts more than 2,000 product entries from around 37 nations, which are judged by experts, with the best products receiving an iF seal of outstanding design quality.

Following extensive testing with hundreds of firefighters the HPS 7000 was launched with a strong emphasis on comfort and safety. This award recognises the new standards set by the helmet, with its innovative, sporty and dynamic design, ergonomic fit and components and a multifunctional system solution.

Dräger Product Design Manager Lennart Wenzel said: ‘We are delighted that the HPS 7000 has been recognised by the iF Design Awards. At Dräger, we are committed to pioneering new standards of safety and after years in development, we launched our new fire helmet only when we knew it could meet the highest demands in terms of design, protection and wearer comfort.

’Our team spent a great deal of time carrying out anthropometric studies with many individuals in order to identify the best possible fit of the helmet. Since we launched just last year, the helmet has already been well received by fire associations and this award win highlights just how important a piece of equipment it is for the modern fire service.’

With many extensive trials across fire associations in the UK already underway, the Dräger team is calling on other brigades to try out the award-winning helmet for themselves.

As a flexible piece of equipment, it is even possible to equip the helmet with different lamps, visors and various other accessories, making it strongly adaptable. It can also be customised to an individual association if required.

Lennart continued: ‘The beauty of the HPS 7000 is that it can cover such a wide range of applications. In today’s day and age, it is so important for a helmet to be easily adaptable and the HPS 7000 offers optimum comfort in any situation.'
