Task Force Tips introduces new ‘go anywhere’ Hemisphere portable monitor

Published:  07 February, 2014

Not only does this monitor boast a 360-degree field of attack, but it mounts almost anywhere.

Meet Task Force Tips’ next generation of monitor… the 2,000 l/min (500gpm) Hemisphere portable initial attack monitor. Not only does this monitor boast a 360 degree field of attack, but it mounts almost anywhere, delivering big water with amazing stream and reach, and doing all of it with limited staffing.

‘We can’t really compare this monitor to anything you’d know, because there’s absolutely no monitor like it in the world,’ explained Rod Carringer, TFT Chief Marketing Officer. ‘Imagine it. You attach your mounting bracket to a beam, a railing, a tank lip, a concrete barrier, - even an everyday trailer hitch – then you drop your Hemisphere onto the mount, attach your line, and you’re ready to go.’

When in use, the Hemisphere features a patent-pending safety mechanism that locks the monitor to the base, blocking accidental removal during operation.  Similarly, the Hemisphere’s ‘anti-drop’ mechanism requires the operator to support the monitor before it can actually be released when it’s mounted upside down.

‘We had customers saying that they wanted a monitor that could shoot down and fight fires on the inside of things while maintaining the integrity of design that our waterways, nozzles, and valve structuring have earned in our forty plus years of service,’ Carringer explained.  ‘The Hemisphere’s the best, and better, of all worlds – industrial or municipal.  When people see it and understand this monitor’s capabilities, they want to try it now! We’ve been shipping them everywhere, throughout the US, over to the Middle East, even to Saudi Arabia.’

The Hemisphere isn’t limited to land use alone. It was designed to enhance mobile response, and is being mounted on trucks (even pickups), as well as fireboats, ‘Anywhere where big guns are needed,’ Carringer added. ‘They love the flexibility they have to mount Hemispheres all around the boat. With the way we’ve designed the mounting bracket, it can be attached almost anywhere.

‘We’re in the process of shooting a video to show the power of the Hemisphere for fighting storage tank fires,’ Carringer said. ‘The problem with shooting a video is as soon as we’ve shot it, our customers come up with other cool uses that we should have included in that video.  That’s one of the many ways they keep us busy at TFT.’
