The annual Airport Fire Officers Association Conference 2014 returns to Dublin

Published:  31 October, 2013

January 14-16, 2014 will see the return of the Annual Airport Fire Officers Association Conference, held at the SAS Radisson Hotel, Dublin, Ireland. One hundred and forty seven delegates attended last year’s event supporting the opinion that this has now become the acclaimed and foremost aviation fire and rescue seminar in the annual calendar.

Representatives from terminal operations, police, local authority fire brigades, operations managers and directors, manufacturers and suppliers are making this a true ‘multi agency’ event.

2014 sees a conference heavily focused on very recent events, all delivered by key personal witnesses who responded to incidents - delivering first-hand accounts. The conference will be covering the two key incidents from Heathrow this year one of which involved the new Boeing Dreamliner 787. The ‘London Vauxhall helicopter incident’ will be presented to the delegation from three perspectives, police, fire & local authority, proving a deep insight in incident management.

Incidents from The United States are covered in high detail with the Boston Bombings and four scenarios from Memphis.

The tragic subject of firefighter fatalities is on the agenda again this year with the events of Shirley Towers, Southampton being presented by one of Hampshire’s ACO’s.

The Airport Fire Officers Association conference attracts a great deal of fire service support companies and organisations to Dublin, often exhibiting in the break out areas. This year’s main sponsor of the event is body builder Terberg DTS.

The cost of the  event is £295 per person for AFOA Members and £495 per person for non-AFOA Members.

The cost will include two night’s accommodation (Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th January 2014) breakfast, lunch, teas and coffees for the two days. Additionally, a three course enhanced evening meal on the Wednesday night is also included in the price.

All delegates are expected to arrive on Tuesday 14th so that the conference can enjoy a prompt and uninterrupted start commencing at 09:00 hrs on the Wednesday morning.
