App website for emergency responders launched by APCO International

Published:  26 June, 2013

The new public safety application website, AppComm, will provide a single online forum dedicated to emergency response apps.

“APCO appreciates the support and continued partnership of the Global Alliance and looks forward to its participation in growing the AppComm community,” said APCO (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials) International President Terry Hall, adding, “by supporting AppComm, the Global Alliance opens the site up to first responders across the globe, providing valuable insight on apps that ultimately benefit public safety.”

APCO launched AppComm for the purpose of providing a single, trusted online forum dedicated to public safety and emergency response apps for use by the general public, app developers and first responders.

AppComm is a collection of apps that numerous uses to the public and first responders. Apps have to be submitted by a member through the on-line process. Once approved, the app will be placed on the site under the appropriate category.

Along with submitting apps, members are asked to browse through the listed apps and tell other users what they think about them. Members are encouraged to “tell us which one’s you’ve used, whether you liked it, and why.” A rate and comment feature allows visitors to let others know the good, the bad and the ugly of the apps.
