New operational firefighting glove from Rosenbauer offers increased comfort and protection

Published:  18 June, 2013

Rosenbauer has launched the Safe Grip 3 operational glove. Which the company says is a further advance on the Safe Grip 2, the new glove offers improved protection characteristics, optimised wearer comfort and attractive design.

The new fire service glove is made exclusively from top quality materials. NomexIII has been worked into the back of the hand, the palm, the lining and the cuffs and provides the best possible resistance to heat and flames. Moreover, a combination with para-aramid fabric renders the glove extremely resistant and further enhances the level of fire protection.

A new feature of the Safe Grip 3 is the reinforcement material on the palm. This consists of a special carbon/silicone coating with a mineral component admixture, which lends the glove both enhanced mechanical characteristics and improved penetration and cut resistance. In concrete terms, the cut protection conforms with Level 4 of the EN 388, as does the glove’s friction and tear resistance, burning behaviour and tactile capacity. Above all, the Safe Grip 3 improves the adhesion to very smooth and wet surfaces, so ensuring that the hands of the wearer do not slip and thus a firm hold on every situation. In addition, the reinforcement on the palm furnishes a precise sense of touch, which is important when operating the controls and other electronic devices.

The excellent fit of the Safe Grip 3 is provided by a three-dimensional, ergonomic cut and extremely precise workmanship. All the materials are bonded together in order that the gloves can be put on and taken off with ease when wet. Elasticated folds on the finger joints increase the flexibility of the gloves and the sense of feeling, while elastic ribbon gatherings on the wrist also enhance wearer comfort.  A climatic membrane has been inserted into the glove between the back of the hand and the lining. This provides protection against moisture, cold and wind and permits the unhindered outward transport of sweat.

The appearance of the Safe Grip 3 has also been reworked and more closely matched to the design of the Fire Max 3. Accordingly, the glove is decorated with surrounding, reflective piping in grey, while the reflective strips on the cuffs are markedly larger and more visible. Apart from their design character, these measures are intended primarily to enhance the safety of the wearer during operations in darkness.

Rosenbauer's new Safe Grip 3 operational glove has EN 659:2003 + A1:2008 accreditation and meets the strictest requirements for fire services. Moreover, it represents a highly convincing combination of outstanding protection, a secure grip and durable materials.
