StocExpo to break records

Published:  07 February, 2013

StocExpo (19–21 March, Antwerp Expo) is on target to be the biggest event yet for Europe’s terminal operators, oil companies, traders and regulators.

Over 150 companies from more than 29 countries have already confirmed they are exhibiting at the show, which is now in its ninth year, and the final total is expected to exceed 180,making it a record event.

150 delegates are expected to attend the three-day conference, which runs throughout StocExpo, again creating an all-time high. Last year 100% of delegates rated the content as excellent, and the organisers have worked hard to maintain this standard, with a line-up of 25 industry experts confirmed to speak.

Visitors will be able to see latest developments in tank design, construction and maintenance, through to innovations in metering and measuring, pumps and valves, automation and loading equipment and inspection and certification services – all under one roof. Exhibitors from around the globe will be at the show, and many will be using it to debut new technologies or make major announcements.

Trisoplast Mineral Liners will be using the show to launch Trisoplast into the tank storage industry. This patented, highly effective and durable mineral barrier consists of 99% natural materials. Its simple onsite production and processing make it ideal for the lining of tank pits and bund walls. It also has superior barrier properties compared to traditional mineral barriers.

StocExpo will be the first European show outing for HMT’s new VaporVault Composite Floating Cover. This represents a major breakthrough in the oil-water separator floating cover market.

Applus RTD will demonstrate two of its inspection techniques. The SLOFECTM floorscan determines the wall and plate thickness of tank floors and piping. By superimposed DC-magnetisation, the depth of penetration is increased so that corrosion attack (metal loss) even at the subsurface can be detected from the surface side. Applus will also exhibit The Beetle, an on-stream method for carrying out wall thickness measurements on storage tanks. Using four powerful magnet wheels and an ultrasonic probe it can crawl upwards along a wall.

Mesa will showcase its latest development in emission reduction seal design for aboveground storage tanks. Mesa’s Vapor Guard VT Gauge Pole Cover helps control the amount of escaping hydrocarbon vapors from storage tank gauge poles/ guide poles. Vapor Guard VT features a proprietary closure and exclusive collapsible design. It significantly reduces product emissions, is suitable for internal and external floating roof tanks and can be installed while the tank remains in-service.

Running alongside the exhibitors will be the top-flight, paid for, three-day conference carefully designed to help delegates stay ahead of industry trends, spot market opportunities and improve their business performance.

Highlights of the programme include: Chris Hunt, Director General of UKPIA; Hugo Hughes, founder of Toptank Terminal Optimization; Peter Weijland, CEO of Nedstore Terminals; Alan Gelder, Head of Oils Research at Wood Mackenzie; Henry Persson, Project Manager at SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden; and John Reynolds, Director at Fire Safety Training.

Among the careful blend of strategic and practical topics, the speakers will explore the challenges facing the bulk liquid sector, the market outlook for the European oil trade sector, plus global expansion and shifts in China, Russia and Brazil. The experts will also discuss terminal capacity trends and the market for European crude. The practical sessions will include talks on improving tank storage efficiency, risk mitigation and safety best practice.

Commenting on the show, Matt Benyon, Managing Director of StocExpo, said:

“StocExpo is now really firmly established as the platform in Europe for terminal operators, oil companies, traders, regulators as well as equipment suppliers to come together to network and do business. Last year we saw our visitors rise by 51% and I’m confident the powerful conference programme and mix of great exhibitors that we’ve secured for 2013 will see that figure increase once again.”
