The 5th International Firefighting Foam Conference takes place yet again at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton (UK), 18-19 March 2013.

Focal points of interest this time will be centred on the use of foam for

(i) aviation and rescue fire fighting (ARFF);

(ii) developments in CAFS technology for both Class A and Class B fires;

(iii) new chemistry required for fluorotelomer C6-compliant aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF);

(iv) foam strategies for large scale Class B fires in chemical process plant and refineries;

(v) specific issues associated with 100% ethanol tank and transport fires; and

(vi) recent progress made by regulators in developing formal positions on the operational use of fire fighting foam. A range of international speakers have agreed to contribute.

The general format of the meeting will follow that of previous events with a conference dinner on the first evening.

The second day will be devoted to presentations highlighting advances in personal protective equipment (PPE), especially light-weight fire kit (bunker gear), as well as foam generating equipment such as rapid response units, inductors, branches, monitors and high-volume foam cannon.

The conference will appeal to a broad range of delegates from the chemical, oil and gas industries, municipal and airport fire brigades, foam and equipment manufacturers, fire industry consultants and academic researchers.

There will be opportunities for companies to showcase their products with exhibition space embedded in the main meeting as well as sponsorship of conference dinner tables, as on previous occasions.
