Solberg launches new foam

Solberg has launched new foam technology that provides environmental sustainability and enhanced fire safety.
Re-healing RF1 is an environmentally friendly, 1% firefighting foam that uses no fluorinated compounds or other organohalogens. It was launched at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) in November, and will also be introduced at Intersec in Dubai in January.
Re-healing RF1 foam concentrate has been formulated using new high performance synthetic foam technology to replace traditional AFFF (aqueous film forming foam), FFFP (film forming fluoroprotein foam) concentrates, and older protein and fluoroprotein foams.
‘RF1 is a uniquely advanced environmentally sustainable firefighting foam technology for use not only on land-based and offshore installations in the petroleum, oil and gas industry but other industrial high-hazard high-risk industries globally,’ said Solberg Managing Director of Business Development, Jan Solberg. ‘We are excited to add RF1 to the family of Re-healing brand foam concentrates.’
It can be used with fresh/brackish/sea water, and the foam takes its name from its physical ‘resealing’ properties. ‘RF1 is the most extensively tested foam product on the market today,’ said Vice President of Engineering and R&D Steve Hansen. ‘Over two years of hands-on laboratory and field testing work went into the development of the product.’
RF1 is intended for use on Class B hydrocarbon fuel fires, and can be used to prevent re-ignition of a liquid spill and control hazardous vapours. Foam non-air aspirating discharge devices as well as air aspirating devices (including standard sprinkler heads) can be used.
