New mobility solution for responders delivers optimal interoperability

Published:  01 October, 2012

Tiburon, a provider of integrated public safety solutions, has launched a new mobility solution that delivers real-time dispatch and CJIS data to low-cost iPad devices. For the first time the power of situational awareness and total mobility is available to all public safety professionals in the field.

This new product is an iPad native application that offers responders the ability to interact fully in real-time with their Tiburon CAD system and to make direct CJIS and other queries using FIPS-compliant encryption. It is highly integrated with Tiburon's Law and Fire RMS systems and offers integrated mapping, priors, alerts and many other functions critical to maintaining situational awareness.

Another important aspect of the Tiburon Mobility Solution is that it offers public safety agencies the ability to use low-cost mobile devices to give officers real-time access to agency activity. Detectives, bike and motor patrol officers - and any other field-based personnel - can now have low-cost, real-time access to federal, state and local databases as well as to information from Tiburon's CAD and Records solutions.

"Devices like the iPad are a game-changing technology in public pafety today. Tiburon has recognized the demand and we are delivering as the technology leader in the market," said Kirke Curtis, Marketing Director of Tiburon. "As a company we are always looking at new technologies to help public safety professionals do their jobs more efficiently and to increase officer safety. We recognize the budget challenges that agencies are facing and the iPad combined with the Tiburon Mobility Solution offers a substantially better use of resources than a traditional laptop solution."

When it comes to making queries, agencies can leverage all of their current CJIS forms and use them directly on the iPad so that officers easily have access to state, local, and federal databases. This new solution also delivers real-time messaging from anywhere in the field, enabling officers to communicate with each other and with Dispatch. Users can store, delete and sort messages to give them significant flexibility in retrieving and viewing.

Tiburon Mobility Solution's integrated mapping has multiple uses and benefits. Units and calls are plotted on a map and AVL is used to route officers to a location. At a glance, officers can see where calls are coming from and where units are located. Agencies have the option of using public mapping data or their own. With the public data, there is the added benefit of not needing to maintain or update maps on the device, and maps are not just local, they are nationwide for use in any situation.

Tiburon has also included the ability to stack calls to a device. This means first-responders can have full visibility and control on how they want to organize their calls and time in the field. They can dispatch themselves automatically to those calls, clear those calls, and move on to the next call. It also enables officers to create self-initiated calls in the field, increasing productivity and reducing dispatcher workloads.

Finally, the Tiburon Mobility Solution is agency-configurable down to having agency- or role-specific menus available across the system and not tied to a specific device.
