Published:  19 March, 2012

Changi Airport Group (CAG) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) have announced the formalisation of a partnership that will foster closer collaboration between both organisations in the areas of emergency preparedness.

This ensures better preparation for possible crises and allow for smooth business continuity planning in airport operations and passenger facilitation.

Under the terms of an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Mr Cletus Peckiam, Chief, Airport Emergency Service, CAG and Colonel Anwar Abdullah, Director, Operations Department, SCDF and witnessed by Mr Lee Seow Hiang, Chief

Executive Officer, CAG and Mr Eric Yap, Commissioner, SCDF, officers from CAG’s Airport Emergency Service (AES) and SCDF will assist and provide mutual support and assistance during emergencies and crises. The MOU will also cover the planning and participation in joint exercises, as well as attachment of officers for professional training.

CAG and SCDF also will forge a stronger partnership through sharing and facilitating information and strategies. This would allow officers from both organisations to be kept updated with the latest developments in professional fire fighting techniques and complement each other in the required skill-sets needed in the areas of fire fighting, rescue, evacuation operations and fire safety strategies as well as sea rescue capabilities.
