New nozzle hose solution saves time and manpower during response

Fire brigadier Herbert Fettweis of Duesseldorf, Germany has developed the new ICONOS nozzle hose for safe and cost effective firefighting of waste dump fires, and wildfires. Herbert designed the hose because in his experience valuable manpower was often wasted during these types of incidents, where people were just simply standing somewhere while pouring water down on the same spot.
One of the big advantages of the ICONOS nozzle hose is, that it is quick and easy to install and will stay in stable position during the entire operation.
The fire hose with STORZ clutch comes in sizes C, B, D, A and F in lengths of 20 meters
with each up to 40 stainless steel nozzles. The maximum effective set up will consist
of eight units of each 20 meters equal to 160 meters. A 6” nozzle hose will deliver a water mist wall
of a vertical height of up to 30 meters or a horizontal working profile for up to 40 meters at 8 bar
working pressure and with an input of 8.500ltr./min.
Firefighters can form straight breaking sections, circles or curves and decide upon deployment
whether a water wall or a sheet should be produced.
The major fire extinguishing capacity is independent of personnel, saving time and money and it enables personnel to be available for other tasks during an incident.
The water mist wall is good for suppressing vapours and liquids, absorption of radiant heat
and absorption of dangerous suspended fumes and gases and dust.
As a preventive measure during transfer of hazard material and during installation and repair
of dangerous goods sites the ICONOS nozzle hose can also be deployed as a stand by.
Equally the water mist wall can be used for mass pre-decontamination and disinfection
of vehicles and other objects. There is an option to add foam and wetting agents.
Sufficient pump capacity is required because a 40 meter ICONOS nozzle tube for example, will require approx. 1,200 litres per minute.
