FIA & BAFSA announce free seminar on watermist systems
Published: 09 August, 2011
The Watermist Coordination Group, consisting of the Fire Industry Association (FIA) and the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA), is running a free seminar covering the latest developments in watermist Standards and applications at the FIA’s offices in Hampton on 18th October 2011.
The seminar is aimed at anyone who works with watermist systems, especially installers and maintainers.
British Standard DD 8489 for Residential/Domestic Watermist Systems was published in November 2010, followed by several parts of the British Standard DD 8458 series covering Industrial and Commercial Watermist Systems in February this year. In addition FIRAS Warrington has launched a Third Party Installer Scheme for Watermist Installers. These changes, coupled with wider interest in what watermist can (and cannot) do have motivated the UK’s two leading fire industry trade associations to organise this event.
The one day event will help delegates understand the new British Standards; how they are structured; what applications are covered; the importance of third party fire testing; how an installer demonstrates its supplier relationship and product and application approvals; the new third party installer scheme and what it means to you; and how to approach bespoke testing if the Standards don’t cover an application.
The seminar is free to attend; places should be booked by clicking here.
All delegates will receive a complimentary copy of the ‘Fire Engineering Guidance Document for Watermist Systems’.
