Streamlight launches a new superbright personal lighting device

Published:  29 March, 2011

Streamlight, a provider of flashlights, has introduced the PolyTac 90 LED, a super-bright and compact right-angle personal light featuring C4 LED technology. The light features three modes, high, low and strobe, and adds the versatility of a right-angle housing and D-ring, so it can be easily attached to a jacket, belt or head strap. The PolyTac 90 with Gear Keeper includes a retractable attachment system.

“The PolyTac is one of our most popular lights with first responders because of its extreme brightness, compact size and exceptional durability,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “The addition of a 90-degree head and integrated carabiner style D-ring makes this light even more useful in environments where hands-free operation is necessary, whether for conducting rescue operations, investigating a fire scene or signaling others during emergencies.”

Sharrah added that the PolyTac 90 LED also is available with the Gear Keeper system for attaching the light to turnout gear or other clothing or equipment. The retractable attachment system includes a high-strength nylon tether with a 36-inch extension and six ounces of retraction force. The attachment system, manufactured by Hammerhead Industries, is designed to protect gear loss in even the most severe environments.

The PolyTac 90 LED features power C4 LED technology and offers microprocessor-controlled high and low intensity modes, and a strobe setting. On the high setting, the light delivers 7,000 candela peak beam intensity and 170 lumens measured system output and provides three hours and 45 minutes of continuous run time. On the low setting, the PolyTac 90 LED offers 30 hours of run time, and on the strobe setting, 6 hours. The C4 LED is impervious to shock with a 50,000 hour lifetime.

Made from high-impact, super-tough nylon polymer, the PolyTac 90 LED offers exceptional durability and a sure grip.  It includes an integrated carabiner style D-ring that provides for easy, one-handed attachment to turnout gear or other clothing, and a rotating, reversible and removal clip that provides several mounting options. The light features a head-mounted push button switch that provides one-handed momentary or constant “on” operation. A double click activates the strobe mode, while a triple click activates the low mode.

The PolyTac 90 LED uses two 3-volt lithium batteries with a shelf life of 10 years.

Weighing only 4.1 ounces, and measuring just 5.22 inches high, the light features an IPX7 rated design that makes it waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The PolyTac 90 LED also is impact-resistant tested to 1 meter.

The PolyTac 90 LED meets requirements of NFPA 1971-8.6 (2007) and comes with Streamlight's Limited Lifetime warranty.
