Oshkosh Airport Products Group, a division of Oshkosh Corporation today announced that its first new generation Oshkosh Striker aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle has been sold to Roberts Field, Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) in Redmond, Ore. The new Striker 3000 model will be placed into service at RDM in early fall 2011. The new Striker was unveiled last April at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC).

Gary Parsons, Station Officer and Paul Calland, Deputy Station Officer of Bay Search and Rescue based at Flookburgh and Milnthorpe (UK), have recently traveled over to Dublin, Ireland, at the invitation of Acting Chief Civil Defence Officer John Moriarty. The Cumbrian team was contacted by Dublin Civil Defence which have recently acquired a Hagglund for Flood and Snow Rescue operations. After accrying out extensive research the Civil Defence Force found out that the Bay Search and Rescue has the most experience in operating these vehicles.

This two-day event has been running since 2004 and gives participants a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the issues and decisions faced by the British Red Cross international emergency response unit (ERU).
