The 28-stone dummy
Published: 04 April, 2008
An obese training dummy weighing in at 28 stones (around 178kg) and requiring six people to lift it has helped a UK company triple its sales.
“It isn’t possible to simply add dead weight to one of our existing dummies, as that does not accurately represent the weight distribution of a larger person,” said MD Susan Edwards. “Our aim was to achieve a ‘fluidity of movement’ and our top designer Sarah Hughes created a dummy that replicates, as closely as possible, the body mass of a large person, creating a realistic training tool.”
Corwen company Ruth Lee has introduced a number of innovative products, including a “hot fire” training dummy made of high quality flame retardant material.
Ruth Lee now exports to the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East.
