HIGH CAPACITY PUMP FROM DAFO:
Comments Johnny Ryden of Dafo Brand: “The SHB 50 from Dafo is a Swedish-designed pump designed especially for draining operations in flooded areas. The angle of the outlet is designed for use in combination with barriers - but the low weight pump can be used where high pumping quantities are needed. The pump is easy to handle and provides high reliability during long periods of operation.” The 45kg SHB 50 provides a 50 lit/sec = 3000 lit/min capacity thanks to a Honda, 4-stroke, air-cooled 4 kW (5,5hp) engine. The feet are made of aluminium and feature vibrationdamping rubber treads. The unit’s combined carrying and protection frame makes the SHB 50 easy to transport/carry and shields the engine and pumping house from damage. For more information, visit: www.dafo.se
EADS INTRODUCES NETCOS FOR SYNTHETIC MODELLING AND SIMULATION:
“EADS Defence and Security Systems recently launched a revolutionary new synthetic modelling system called NetCos,” Steve Whitby, Deputy Head of Government and Civil Solutions for the EADS told one of F&R’s reporters at Fire 2005. “NetCos provides fire services and other organisations with a synthetic simulation environment. It is now possible to design, develop, evaluate and scale responses to any emergency scenario ranging from terrorist treats to natural disasters,” Steve continues. Network Centric Operations Simulation (NetCos) is based on gaming technology. National and International crisis management scenarios can be synthetically simulated using simulation and data fusion technology. The NetCos Centres are based in Germany, France and South Wales and the fifth one is scheduled for Spain during 2006. “All centres provide a common environment called NetCORE offering methodological tools, synthetic environment, and a simulation tool together with infrastructure platform for the design and execution of experiments in support of large system integration. By merging and presenting data from a variety of sources in a virtual environment. We can create a precise realistic picture of a specific tactical or strategic scenario,” Steve continues. He adds that facilities such as those offered by EADS become indispensable for testing and perfecting sets of innovative defensive movements suited to today’s homeland security challenges.
