Published: 12 August, 2009
UK software and electronics company Persides has launched Veecam (Video for Extreme Environments), a rugged detachable mini-camera, which is waterproof up to depths of 100m.
The Veecam is shock proof and resistant and fully operational in temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius (158 F). Compatible with thermal imaging equipment, the camera enables fire services to locate people in burning or collapsed buildings. As well as being extremely lightweight, it can be attached to any part of the firefighting kit, leaving the rescuers hands free.
