New approaches from R-Pons

The French manufacturer R-PONS recently developed the ‘Compactor 2000’, a 6kg portable monitor with the ‘VSC’ safety valve. The Compactor swivels in both horizontal (-30° to +30°) and vertical (+20° to +70°) modes. In conjunction with the TURBOMATIC (automatic) or TURBOPONS (adjustable) nozzle, the ‘Compactor’ delivers 2000 litres/mn from a straight stream to a protective spray jet.
In the event of any slippage the licensed ‘VSC’ system automatically reduces the flow rate and the pressure whilst still maintaining sufficient water supply to protect the firefighters.
The optional automatic oscillating system gives an adjustable travel and speed independent of the flow rate.
In parallel with the development of this monitor – a completely new design. R-Pons has produced some innovations in anticipation of the new European standards concerning the hand-held branchpipes.
The new European standard, EN 15182, concerning branchpipes, is under development and will be applied in a few months. Without awaiting R-Pons has modified its range of Optrapons branchpipes, in particular with diffusion system and flow rate adjustment.
The new range has been designed with specific ergonomics to reduce the reaction torque and to provide maximum control and very comfortable handling. The head, with double line of fixed teeth, produces a full fog offering an optimum extinguishing capacity, and an unequalled dense fog protecting the firefighter on the ‘wide spray jet’ position. A tactile mark on the selector of flows gives the user the facility to identify the flow position in low-visibility situations.
