MSA alphaClick rapid cylinder couple

Published:  01 January, 2007

MSA has announced the launch of two new products; a new rapid cylinder exchange coupling for breathing apparatus, and a high performance single-gas detector.

The alphaClick rapid cylinder exchange couple for MSA breathing apparatus (fits MSA 200 or 300 bar standard threaded cylinder valves) eliminates the need for threading, and reduces the time needed to attach and remove cylinders by up to ten times.
To operate the new coupling, the cylinder is snapped onto the pressure reducer of the AirMaxx or BD 96 SCBAs that feature the alphaClick. Safety features include not being able to disconnect the alphaClick when there is any pressure, and an in-built dirt guard which keeps the air clean.
The new MSA Altair Pro contains three sensor options to suit various applications, detecting carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide and oxygen, with a single-button operation offering quick access to all functions.  A display allows users to see gas concentration, alarm conditions, alarm set points, battery status and peak reading. It also includes a distinctive audible and strong vibration alarm to ensure complete protection.
An extra thick rubberised housing is water and dust-resistant, and a rugged suspension clip is fitted as standard for secure attachment to clothing. It also has a datalogging facility for data transfer to PC via infra-red link.
