A programme of continuing investment and a commitment to maintain the highest production standards demonstrates PROFOAM's determination to be the eminent firefighting foam specialist.
The exhaustive research and development undertaken by Profoam's technical department has resulted in an extensive and diverse range of high quality foam products suitable for use in all hazardous environments, such as those found in oil and gas production facilities, petrochemical and chemical plants, heavy industrial plants, as well as in the specialised situations encountered by firefighting teams working within fire brigades, civil aviation and the armed forces.
Specialist foams
A full range of protein and synthetic based foam compounds has been developed by Profoam's chemists to fight all types of hydrocarbon and polar solvent fires, including Fluoroprotein and protein; Hi-Ex synthetic; Film forming (AFFF, FFFP); Class A, as well as all types of pseudoplastic and newtonian all-purpose AR foams.
Among the specialised foam liquids developed by PROFOAM, the following two products are particularly popular with oil & gas and chemical industry:
- PROFLON FP HQ: a superior fluoroprotein foam developed to fight difficult hydrocarbon and MTBE fires. It is principally intended for use by major oil companies, refineries, petroleum and petrochemical plants. The foam produced by PROFLON FP HQ quickly knocks down important fires thanks to its great stability and remarkable fluidity. Its unique formulation ensures full control of the most difficult hydrocarbon and MTBE fires by efficient extinction and excellent burnback resistance.
- PROFILM AR 3x3: a high quality all-purpose AFFF AR suitable for use at low, medium and high expansion. Approved by APSAD for use with Hi-Ex generators, it is used by many important industrial chemical plants such as l'OREAL, SIEMENS etc. Coupled with a Hi-Ex generator, it produces Hi-Ex foam (expansion > 700:1). Used for total flooding of large volumes in a short time, it is most suitable for the protection of chemical products in storage warehouses.
One of PROFOAM's main concerns is 'respect for the environment'. PROFOAM uses fluorinated tensio-actives, essential for conferring excellent resistance against the hydrocarbon contamination of foams - this reflects PROFOAM's concerns about environmental protection and also the firefighting efficiency of its foams.
This has been proved in the efficiency classification results to European standards EN1568 that PROFOAM's foams have achieved.
PROFOAM formulates its foam concentrates with tensio-actives issued from telomerisation manufacturing process which eliminates the risk of producing PFOS (PerFluoro-Octanoic-Sulfonate). Thus PROFOAM commits itself to never use raw materials classified by EPA (Environment Protection Agency in USA) as PBT (Persistent, Bio accumulator, Toxic).
Moreover, our tensio-active suppliers have also assured us of elimination of all traces of PFOA (PerFluoro Octanoic Acid) From in-house chemical analysis of current product samples, ensuring continued efficiency, through to reliable advice on the suitability of specific products for any particular installation parameter, PROFOAM can provide a totally professional service to both existing and new customers.
