Solberg Scandinavian AS has been established in Bergen, Norway, since 1967 and in 1982 a new factory was built at Olsvollstranda, about 30 km north of Bergen. Here, Solberg Scandinavian AS was able to establish a full and comprehensive range of AFFF/ATC foams which were all compatible with Lightwater.
Comments Steve Smith: “To avoid confusion in the transition from Lightwater to Arctic AFFF we adopted the same product codes i.e. Lightwater 603EF remained Arctic 603EF. This new range of telomeric based AFFFs/ATC enabled us to continue servicing our valued customers and also gave us the time to further develop our environmentally benign alternatives.
“We are the “Foam Experts” and using all our knowledge and experience we have completely revised the current way of thinking and using state-of-the-art technology developed Re-healing foams,” he reports.
“These new foams use technology that has never been experienced before and gives us the ability to manufacture environmentally benign foams that often exceed the requirements of current standards like EN1568 and Lastfire yet there are no fluorosurfactants or organohalogens. Arctic Re-healing Foam comes in a range of products that can extinguish all fires through any equipment, 3% or 6% induction and a multi-purpose alcohol resistant version for polar solvents,” comments Steve.
“Arctic Re-healing Foams are the answer to the challenge, it can be used by firefighters without being concerned about potential damage done to our environment, it can be used without fear that we will poison the aquatic life and it can used knowing that firefighters safety is not compromised. “Fluorosurfactant Free Foams like Arctic Re-Healing Foam could be an alternative to use in the future on situations like in the case of the fire at Buncefield,” he concludes.
